SightFirst Grants

LCIF has approved over 320 SightFirst grants totaling US$45.9 million for India 

These grants have trained over 1,663 individuals, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, and ophthalmic nurses

2,065,630 cataract surgeries were supported by these grants

Over 13,000 individuals had their diabetic retinopathy managed/treated, either through laser or surgery, as a result of SightFirst’s investment

SightFirst Comprehensive Eye Care Grant

The mission of the SightFirst Grant program is to develop or improve comprehensive eye care systems to fight blindness and vision loss and to assist people who are blind and visually impaired in underserved communities.

SightFirst Research Grants provide funds to support public health research initiatives that evaluate and directly influence the operation of the SightFirst program.

Matching Grant

Matching grants (previously called standard grants) are large-scale humanitarian projects that address unmet needs. The project must serve a large population. Grants awarded are between US$10,000 and US$100,000.

District and Club Community Impact Grant

Through the District & Club Community Impact Grants program, 15 percent of unrestricted contributions to LCIF are transformed into grants that fund local projects on a club and/or district level.

LCIF Leo Service Grant

Provides financial assistance to Leo service projects implemented by Leo clubs in a Lions multiple district or district. The goal of the grant is to support Leos to assess, plan and implement their own service projects.
